Photo Booth Project

Project Brief:

Customized Photo Booth for Western Canada High School

Our team designed and built a Photo Booth for Western Canada High School, including custom development of a Selfie App and the designs of themed frames and stickers. This booth will be used for school events like graduations, sports games, award ceremonies, and parties. This Photo Booth ensures user privacy by not retaining any photographs or private information.

Impact and Value:

The project has been a tremendous success. At this year’s graduation event alone, 556 students used the Photo Booth.

For WCHS:

  • Provides a free digital application for daily events

  • Offers a fun and interactive way for students to capture moments and promote school spirit

  • Saves WCHS approximately $1,000/event in decoration and photo booth rental costs

For Students:

  • Provides hands-on digital skills and valuable work experience

  • Continues to be a learning tool for students through the maintenance of the Photo Booth

  • Mateo Yajure, the Project Leader, is now a YDT mentor for app development and coding. His Photo Booth project experience enhanced his skills and resume as a notable achievement. This fall, he will pursue a Computer Engineering major at the University of Waterloo

Project Brief:

UI/UX Design and Gamification project for the GLOCAL Foundation of Canada

A team of six talented students was recruited for this project. The goal is to create an intuitive and visually appealing UI/UX design for an educational game targeting high schoolers and newly arrived immigrants. The game will help youth and first-time voters understand the Canadian political and electoral system, covering election processes, major political parties and notable political figures. This effort supports digital civic engagement efforts nationwide.

The project has completed its first phase.

Impact and Value:

GLOCAL is obtaining a customized digital solution at no cost, to help thousands of youth and first-time voters across Canada understand the Canadian political and electoral system.

By innovatively solving a real-life project, students gained hands-on experience and enhanced their abilities in UI/UX design and gamification

Reconciliation Garden Digital Development Project

Project Brief:

This project for Western Canada High School includes two pillar works: Reconciliation Garden Website Development and Reconciliation Garden 3D Modelling. The purpose of the garden is to honor Treaty 7 territory through a living Land Acknowledgement and to claim space within our school for Indigenous perspectives. This project is a part of WCHS ongoing work in the school on decolonization and anti-racism education. The goal within this project is to have an outdoor learning space that celebrates and shares the many gifts, contributions, and teachings of Indigenous people with respect to our relationship with the land and is importantly one where students have chosen this for a path towards reconciliation.

Impact and Value: The informative website and interactive virtual 3D model of the real reconciliation garden will be used as the official online host space, media networking and digital education tool for the Garden.

This project won 2023 Reach for the top foundation Award & The Robert Jeffrey Grant $500


Geo-Insights App Development Solution for TruDiary

Team Members: Max Du, Jeffery Moon, Zoey Jiang

Project Brief:

This project was for TruDiary, a digital health company dedicated to helping black and brown moms in under-resourced communities obtain quality Prenatal and Postpartum Care and Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) services.

Geo-Insights App was developed to foster TruDiary’s sustainable growth and marketing through increasing virtual meetups, scaling up app-based tribe community, the app enable TruDiary to convert monthly offline dinners & conversations to online while keeping the same level of intimacy but with reduced costs.

Impact and Value: the App prototype will be used as part of the app-based TruDiaryTribe community networking function, solve a challenge a startup business faces by creating a innovative real digital solution that has lasting impact to better lives of black and brown moms in under-resourced communities

Website Development for Step in STEM

Team Members: Mickael Naouri

Project Brief: Created a working website for France-based NPO Step in STEM to allow them to create a centralized platform for all their sessions and information. This helps to develop a wider community of students who are intersted in STEM by spreading the organization to more people who need it. This project allowed Step in STEM to expand their basis of students and show off their achievments.

Impact and Value: This website has been maintained by Step in STEM and has been sucessfull in spreading the word of their orginizaiton all over the world and aquiring many new branches to reach many more students.
